Gardens of Resilience

Helping people and communities in Ukraine recover from post-war trauma through the healing power of garden therapy.

We believe in the boundless power of nature to restore strength and heal emotional wounds. Ukraine has a rich heritage of gardens and gardening as a way of life in harmony with nature. This cultural treasure, tied to vitality and resilience, requires research and rethinking to adapt to modern challenges. Our project seeks to revive these traditions, honoring Ukraine’s legacy while offering innovative approaches for healing.

Why Garden Therapy?
Gardening brings us closer to the soil, allowing us to feel empowered by nurturing life. It is a creative and forward-looking act that fosters hope. As Dr. Sue Stuart-Smith writes in The Well-Gardened Mind:

“Gardening connects us with nature’s renewing powers in a way that is both calming and invigorating. Tending the earth offers the joy of creativity and is oriented toward the future in a positive way. Fundamentally, gardening is an act of hope.”
